Wardrobe!

Alas, if only I had the the financial means to fund my style addiction. Instead, I get my fix by materializing my daydreams at polyvore.com - finding pieces to refine my style, creating my perfect wardrobe - the ultimate closet.

Notice I say "style," not "fashion". I love, covet the pieces that resonate with me, not the trends exhausted by magazine headlines. I appreciate style as an art form. Style has the potential to act as an extension of the soul - the same way the culmination of individual life experiences fuel the artist's unique aesthetic or the musician's lyrics & sound. When you can learn something new about a person, gain a little insight into what inspires them, drives them, merely based on what they're wearing...it's not just clothes or fashion anymore...it's STYLE.

So here's a little dani.dan soul for you...WHAT'S IT SAY ABOUT ME?

Top5 Things I Miss the Most Right Now

This site, soulpancake.com, posts questions/bits of insight daily that are supposed to make you think. It's a cool little website cuz I totally dig all that introspective shit, which either heightens my self-awareness or just makes me incredibly vain. Anyway, periodically, I will post my personal responses/reactions to the prompts.

So....

Top5 Things I Miss the Most Right Now

1) Chillin with all the Baylors - doing absolutely nothing, but being completely content.
2) Standing in some dark little bar, with a Hef in hand, getting completely lost in incredible live music.
3) Wake'n'bakin...multiple times. Rippin Oreo.
4) SD beaches & their respective sunsets
5) The unwavering optimism of a carefree, intrepid youth.

Not Your Granny's Bag

Came across these incredible Marc Jacobs bags online. The chain detailing and tassels are old school, reminiscent of that classic quilted Chanel bag, but done in bright, unconventional color combinations and python (ok, not such a fan of python) these handbags are definitely a fresh, fun twist on a classic. Plus, they're just plain fun to look at!

zack morris lives.

this is awesome.

definitely had the fattest crush on the guy when i was still sporting double-velcro reebok hi-tops and those slapstick bracelets. zack morris still looks good...in a '90s jake ryan, bayside kind of way. this video pretty much made my day.

day of decision

they say california is "so progressive". the capital of free love. home of all those hippies, peddling their quests for universal happiness. champions of equality. well, today...that california is no more.

today, the ca supreme court announced their decision to uphold PROP H8. thus beginning our dangerous descent down that slippery, slippery slope. the notion that we are all "equal" is now nothing more than a myth. apparently, we are NOT all equal. not everyone deserves to share in the joy of marriage, not everyone deserves to be happy.

way to go, california. you broke my heart.

here's keith olbermann's moving "special comment" on PROP H8:

another one to move the masses...

one by one.

i'm a strong advocate for the eternal youth, the lucky souls who grow up, but NEVER grow old. i believe that we should always look to the stars and dream big, with the same optimistic, innovative passion we had when we sported double-velcro reeboks and scrunchies. hence, the first tattoo i ever got-a permanent reminder to always stay young at heart. hence, my need to share this video by grasshopper.com:

do what makes you happy & let's make moves!

have a beautiful one.
