File Under Ginger Love: Elly Jackson

Found myself amidst a growing love for musically-inclined redheads.  Totally digging Elly Jackson's androgynous neo-pop style.  It's Tilda Swinton at 21 raiding David Bowie's closet & stealing Jimmy Neutron's spectacular quiff.  There's an intriguing coolness to her cartoonish style - an amused swagger, perhaps.  And my roommate can attest to this, ever since my buddy M introduced me to the skream remix, I've had "In for the Kill" on repeat.

the muse...

They say every artist should have a muse. Well, at the point that I'm ready to consider myself an artist, I'd make the lovely Ms. Freja Beha Erichsen my muse in a heartbeat. The Dorian Gray to my Basil Hallward, minus the whole soul transfering into the painting mess. Adding spice to a world full of token leggy blonds, season after season, she's walked every major runway at fashion week. She's got some 18 tattoos (which automatically scores major points in my book). She's got this badass, laid-back street style...leather jackets, tees, and black...lots of black Androgyny. Edge. A great smile. And....that swagger...damn. The girl is beautiful and all I'm saying is...I'd kick it with her.

The Incomparable Tilda Swinton

My BEST DRESSED award for this year's Oscars goes to...the incomparable Tilda Swinton.

Artistically swathed in Lanvin separates, Tilda epitomizes the "effortless cool" look I find so fantastically alluring. Ethereal, androgynous, and possessing a statuesque grace reminiscent of Michelangelo, Tilda Swinton is a fierce aesthetic force...and an unquestionable favorite of mine!

oh androgyny...

Forget a "fine line" - there is a gaping chasm of a difference between simply dressing like a dude and embracing the effortlessly sexy style of androgynous chic. Women who successfully execute this look simultaneously exude staggering confidence and inexplicable sexual magnetism. So hot. Androgynous chic icons, such as Patti Smith, Kate Moennig (The L Word's resident androgynous hottie, Shane McCutcheon), and Kate Lanphear (senior editor of Elle magazine), ooze cool intrigue. Maybe it's the juxtaposition of rigidly tailored menswear against the soft curves of a woman's body, maybe it's the "fuck you, social norms" attitude, the feminine hijacking the masculine...whatever the reason, it's mysterious and sultry as hell.

I mean, sure, Charlize Theron is gorgeous in a gauzy designer gown, but put her in a lean satin tux and you've not only got the cool charm and wit of James Bond, but all the sizzling allure of a Bond girl as well.

Effortlessly cool, devastatingly sexy, and fantastically enigmatic…androgynous chic is one look I can’t take my eyes off.
