day of decision

they say california is "so progressive". the capital of free love. home of all those hippies, peddling their quests for universal happiness. champions of equality. well, today...that california is no more.

today, the ca supreme court announced their decision to uphold PROP H8. thus beginning our dangerous descent down that slippery, slippery slope. the notion that we are all "equal" is now nothing more than a myth. apparently, we are NOT all equal. not everyone deserves to share in the joy of marriage, not everyone deserves to be happy.

way to go, california. you broke my heart.

here's keith olbermann's moving "special comment" on PROP H8:

another one to move the masses...

one by one.

i'm a strong advocate for the eternal youth, the lucky souls who grow up, but NEVER grow old. i believe that we should always look to the stars and dream big, with the same optimistic, innovative passion we had when we sported double-velcro reeboks and scrunchies. hence, the first tattoo i ever got-a permanent reminder to always stay young at heart. hence, my need to share this video by grasshopper.com:

do what makes you happy & let's make moves!

have a beautiful one.

Playing for Change

My buddy, J, shared this video with me via email a little while back and, as she promised, it moved & inspired me. So, now i'm sharing it with you. Released by the Playing for Change Foundation, an organization that provides resources to musicians and communities all over the world, in their documentary film titled "Peace Through Music", "Stand by Me" highlights the transformative power and universally fundamental quality of music. Music is an amazing and powerful tool, soaring above country lines and making global moves for a better, more peaceful world. At the end of the day, we are all merely neighbors, we are all human beings, residing on this one planet just trying to live a happy life.

well shucks...

Did a Petites' event for Macy's SF with Keylee & Style Studio on Saturday. Went well. Super laid back, but the audience was so enthusiastic about the show! Afterwards, met up with lil' sis, her beau, and their friend at the Oyster Fest over at Fort Mason (only a 3 mi. walk from Union Square). Mozied on over there and spent the next few hours sprawled out on a grassy hill, soaking up that delicious sun, listening to Michael Franti & Spearhead play live, with my stomach happy full on fresh deep-fried oysters, empanadas, and saltwater taffy.

Not a bad way to spend my Saturday.

put a cork in it!

no longer just the annoying stopper stalling you from that nightly glass of Two-buck Chuck, CORK is now making its way into the fashion world. the look & texture of cork is a fresh take, especially in these eco-conscious days (i mean, the neon-flecked strappy platforms are freakn HOT!), but i also kinda want to just take a thumbtack and pin a to-do list to it. very amused.

oh catoctin...

so, during my 3rd year at sdsu (& what feels like a lifetime ago), i lived here:

well, yesterday morning, i learned that the place was making headlines.

basicallly, here's what happened: the place was on fire, "blazing it up" if you will, so firefighters were called in. upon entering the house, they found about 100 pot plants. they quickly extinguished the fire, the house now "baked", & brought the resident in for "smoke inhalation".

i kid you not. a weed bust at my old place. seriously, can't make this shit up.

way to keep it classy, catoctin. just another crazy story to add to the baylor saga. gotta love college!
