Don't H8TE, Particp8!

The Rally Against H8te, organized by JointheImpact.com, took place nation-wide on Saturday, November 15. Opponents of Prop8 showed up in the masses to protest prop8 on the front steps of city halls throughout the country. Some fought for equality, some fought for love...all were there to fight H8TE!

Also, BIG NEWS: Yesterday, the California Supreme Court agreed to review the constitutionality of Prop8. Several lawsuits challenging this proposition, which narrowly passed with a majority of 52%, have been filed and an expedited briefing has been scheduled.

Clash of the Titans

In 2003, UK music publication, Q Magazine, created fashion history by bringing together two of the world's biggest style icons for one incredible editorial. Photographed by Ellen Von Unwerth, the photoshoot successfully captured all the rock star edge and nonchalant charm that is David Bowie and Kate Moss. Enjoy!

Current Obsession: Chanel Zip-Twist Boots

Can we all have a moment to just sit back and revel in the beauty that is - the Chanel Zip-Twist Boot?

These boots are ridiculous. Tall black leather boots have always been a wardrobe staple, but add an exposed diagonal zipper and an extended tab, and you've got yourself motorcycle-inspired classics that are so effortlessly cool, they're timeless. Dress them up with a short cream-colored sweater dress and black leather bomber jacket or dress them down with skinny jeans and a tee...they'll pretty much make anything you put on look hot, hot, HOT!

the fight continues....

Election night was an emotional one. Obama, POTUS-elect, represents the realization of this once-again-great nation's potential for positive change. And while my heart was, no doubt, elated by Obama's election, the outcome of prop8 still weighed heavily on my mind. In a state that was supposed to be so progressive, so free-thinking, in a country that had just, in a landslide, elected Obama as president, Prop8 passed in California. 52% of California voters had the audacity to strip the civil rights away from their neighbors...so they could sleep a little easier. An entire California demographic reduced to second-rate citizens because 2% (that's comparable to the population of Bakersfield) voted yes.

Grandma: If you live in California, you do, sweetie.

We read fairytales to children, teaching them that EVERYONE deserves to fall in love, live happily ever after. Prop8 changes that, quickly turning fairytales into a farce. Prop8 says - Sure, everyone deserves a fairytale ending...unless your gay that is, then your shit outta luck - but at least everyone else gets to live happily ever after!

So for the first time in a long time...I am proud to be an American, so happy to call Obama my president (elect), but embarassed to be a Californian.

The fight to overturn Prop8 continues...
